Entry Level Sales Representative

Since 1960, Allured Business Media has been serving the beauty industry. Today, we have four primary brands: Cosmetics & Toiletries serving cosmetic chemists; Perfumer & Flavorist dedicated to the fragrance & flavor markets; Global Cosmetic Industry reaching marketers of cosmetic brands; and Skin Inc. serving the professional skin care market (spas, medical spas, wellness). Each brand delivers information online, in print and through face-to-face events.

 

We are looking for two entry level sales representatives, one for our Skin Inc. and the other for our Exhibit Sales.  The primary responsibility of both positions is increasing sales in assigned territory by aggressive prospecting, upgrading existing clients and providing superb customer service.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Increasing sales based on established goals. This includes identifying, researching and calling prospects as well as growing business with existing accounts. Able to identify new opportunities, build creative marketing solutions and target companies to pursue in sales efforts.
  • Establish strong relationships with key accounts and grow prospects to build sales in all products. Learn the clients business through research and inquisitive conversations with key stockholders in the company. Understand the media buys they make. Build knowledge of their competitors.  Develop relationships with several key industry leaders who will give candid and constructive feedback.
  • Sell customized marketing programs that serve the customers’ business goals. Know each client’s product mix and business goals to design a multimedia program that addresses these goals.
  • Travel is required to client’s offices and industry events. These positions will represent the company and promote the divisions brand in all interactions. Learn the market by reading industry publications, newsletters and understand how the audience and suppliers interact with each other. Keep abreast of industry news and trends. Be an industry insider through networking and by connecting the right people together helping to create commerce.
  • Documentation of customer records in order to best serve the customer and minimize errors in our customers’ experience. Must provide accurate and timely documentation such as insertion orders, expense reports, forecasts and other documents as requested.
  • May help in bad debt collection procedures. Responsible for managing travel and entertainment expenses to budget.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing clients.
  • Develop, produce and sell creative marketing proposals that serve the customers’ business goals and generate sales.
  • Prepare proposals, make presentations, attend tradeshows, and arrange meetings and demonstrations.
  • Identify market trends and issues to the overall market.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules and annual territory analyses.
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as call reports, work plans and territory analyses.
  • Always maintains professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • A. or B. S in Sales and/or Marketing a plus
  • 2+ years sales or related experience: Media sales a plus.
  • Well-developed sales, presentation and closing skills.
  • Able to establish strong relationships with key accounts and grow prospects through research and inquisitive conversations with key stockholders in the company.
  • Professional demeanor, selling style and appearance.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of business concepts that drive marketing decisions.
  • Able to formulate and write a creative marketing proposals that are simple to follow and align with client’s business objectives.
  • Ability to travel 5% -20%.
  • Must be able to work roughly 8 weekends a year.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:

 

  • Interest in the beauty industry a plus.
  • Good to excellent working knowledge of MS Office Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communicator both verbally and in writing.
  • Engage with digital technologies and have some understanding of how they are monetized.
  • Comfortable using technology. Contact Management applications a plus.
  • Organized and efficient in work habits.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Both are full-time positons offering competitive base pay with commission, PTO and benefits.
