Event Marketing Specialist

Basic Functions: Responsible for development, planning and execution of direct marketing programs to raise the levels of customers awareness, acquisition and retention of attendees, exhibitors and sponsors for all Allured Business Media’s conferences and tradeshows. Meets overall objectives for revenue growth.

Summary of Duties:

  • Research and provide strategic information on the target market for each new and existing event including industry segments, relevant industry associations and competitive events.
  • Conceive and develop marketing strategies and programs to advance brand identities and increase profitability of Allured’s conferences and tradeshows.
  • Develop marketing plans to achieve target attendance, exhibition and sponsorship revenue goals.
  • Monitor and provide analysis of marketing results for all event marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate marketing schedules across all events
  • Work with internal and external resources to design and implement e-media including websites developed for each event.
  • Write copy for promotional materials including press releases, web copy, brochures and email.
  • In collaboration with Audience Development including developing, maintaining and updating databases and files to ensure they are complete and accurate.
  • Cultivate and expand media partnerships and manage the execution of barters.
  • Coordinate and expand social media networking marketing strategies for each event.
  • Develop and monitor event marketing budgets and provide routine updates on expenses.
  • Collaborate with designers and developers involved in conceptualizing and producing promotional materials.
  • Conduct event surveys including but not limited to post-event customer satisfaction from planning, designing, deployment and analysis.
  • Assist presenters with editing and preparation of presentations and handouts to ensure they are suitable and delivered on time.
  • Work with Director and Event Managers in other event activities as needed.

Knowledge and Skill:

  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing channels including websites conversion tactics, e-mail marketing and social media marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized with excellent analytical skills.

Experience Must Have:

  • 3-5 years marketing experience and/or event marketing
  • Microsoft Office, working with website content management systems, audience databases and coding in HTML

Education:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Marketing, Business or related background

Staff Accountant Position

Basic Function: The ideal candidate will be capable of stepping into the staff accountant role and quickly assume ownership of the position. They will possess the desire to learn on their own and proactively dig into processes and systems to acquire the knowledge necessary to get the job done. Hitting the ground running is a must as the position has been vacant for three months.

Summary of Duties:

  • Maintain general ledger and prepare financial statements including reconciliation of all balance sheet items.
  • Provide accounts payable and accounts receivable support.
  • Responsible for daily cash management, fixed assets, sales commissions, account analysis and sales tax returns.
  • Assist with budgeting and year end review.

Experience Must Have:

  • 3-5 years accounting experience.
  • Accounting software expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Google Mail.
  • Ability to work in multiple systems with a variety of revenue sources using different account methods.

Director of Sales

We are recruiting an experienced sales leader, a change-agent who is results-driven and a champion of digital products; a strategic and collaborative team builder to lead our sales activities and ensure our sales team exceeds client expectations and our revenue targets. Reporting to the company President, this position is based in Carol Stream, IL and requires travel to cities around the world to serve the beauty industry market. The Director of Sales is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the sales team and maximizing the sales and profitability of our brands revenue targets.

Areas of Responsibilities Include:

  • Leads a sales team responsible for digital, print and sponsorship sales revenue for Cosmetics & Toiletries, GCI Brand, Perfumer & Flavorist and Skin Inc.
  • Plans, develops, implements and evaluates all strategic sales plans to achieve revenue objectives. Crafts integrated advertising media programs through consultative client sales.
  • Understands current trends in the cosmetic, spa and salon, and fragrance and flavor industries.
  • Uses sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sales and profitablility of products, lines or services, analyzes business developments and closes sales.
  • Leads a sales team of on-site and remote independents representatives. Supervises the Promotion Marketing Specialist responsible for the creation, implementation and analysis of promotional client-side marketing campaigns to create awareness for our brands products and services.
  • Coordinates and participates in industry activities and trade shows working with developers, advertisers, or production managers, to market products and services.
  • Coaches, identifies staff development opportunities and promotes succession planning for all positions supervised.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing and a minimum of 10 years sales experience with at least 7 years experience sales staff management experience.
  • Knowledge of beauty industry sales strategies and industry experience.
  • Change agent. Excellent communicator with high customer service and relationship building skills.
  • Strong prospecting and cold calling skills and experience.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel), SFA/CMS system, LauchPad a plus.

Digital Products Director

Basic Functions:Working closely with the President and the Director of Sales, Content and Audience Development this newly created position is responsible for developing a profitable digital business to meet the strategic objectives of the company.

Areas of Responsibilities Include:

  • Creates annual and strategic market plans for all digital products/services to meet the company’s objectives.
  • Leads the product development, creation and execution of new product launches and site relaunches. Develops and writes the business case, scope and requirement documentation.
  • Able to perform the business analysis for all digital product development in collaboration with Director of Technology and finance.
  • Identifies and executes strategic partnerships/alliances, potential acquisitions and new digital business models.
  • Leads site launches/relaunch initiatives collaborating with sales, content and audience development.
  • Creates financial plans and revenue models and develops/monitors annual budgets for all digital products/services collaborating with sales, content and audience development. Monitors performance, budgets and forecasts for digital products. Responsible for digital revenue and expense budgets and reforecasts. Conducts monthly P&L reviews and communicates with key stake holders regularly.
  • Creates digital revenue strategic/models working collaboratively with the director of sales on solutions that address client marketing and communication objective.
  • Defines and monitors digital product KPIs.
  • Develops content/data requirements/structure in collaboration with editorial team.
  • Monitors competition and evolving business models/strategies to stay current. Collects and disseminates latest industry research and researches best practices.
  • Identifies new technologies/partnerships/applications to enhance user experience engagement (audience) and internal workflow processes (in conjunction with Director of Technology).
  • Collaborates on social media initiatives to drive traffic and engagement.
  • Drives SEO best practices to ensure discoverability. Oversees SEO activities, sources analytic and SEO vendors. Advises on SEM.

Staff Management Responsibilities:

  • Staff Development: Coaches, identifies staff development opportunities and promotes succession planning for all positions supervised.
  • Directs the hiring, training and performance evaluations of digital product managers, analysts and digital sales executive. Trains staff and promotes company-wide consistency of reporting, and recording for pertinent sales data, retrievable as required by authorized staff from database management system.
  • Establishes goals and objectives of subordinates to meet overall company-wide goals.
  • Develops and utilizes company-wide administrative systems for all internal operating procedures pertaining to the sales process & policies of the business.
  • Supervises a staff of three.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Marketing, Communication, or Journalism. A minimum of five years leading digital product development in media/publishing in the beauty industry.

Managing Editor

This position is responsible for developing and executing the company’s content strategy for Skin Inc. and Face & Body brands by acquiring engaging content to support the overall strategic objectives for revenue and growth. The Editor is responsible for setting the editorial tone in all products to ensure audience engagement online, in print and at events. In this highly visible, engaging position, the Editor will collaborate with the Director of Editorial, other editors, Sales team, audience development team and cross-functional teams to ensure audience engagement and close alliances with clients, associations, and trade organizations.

Areas of Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops content strategy for all products in the division. Set and communicate a clear editorial vision that will support marketing, product design and content development.
  • Identifies industry trends and translate to building content creation, product development. Also utilize relevant content published in Allured’s other brands on the latest cosmetic developments.
  • Develops content that connects the audience and seller in relevant ways.
  • Cultivates relationships to build editorial advisors, authors and speakers and work closely with them to provide industry-appropriate content that engages the audience.
  • Develops content utilizing original content from internal, industry and freelance resources, aggregated resources (other voices, bloggers etc) and user generated (polls, comments etc)
  • Develops unique content on the business, science and treatment aspects of the professional skin care for estheticians and spa owners in the Spa, medical esthetics and wellness industry
  • Enhances news reports with personal interviews.
  • Builds deep industry relationships and visible presence in the market.
  • Develops and engages a conversation using social media outlets
  • Contributes as the company’s voice/personality in industry blogs and social media.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communication and a minimum of five years developing and leading content strategy
